WAXING

  • No sun for 12 hours following a waxing treatment.

  • No hot baths for 12 hours following a waxing treatment.

  • No abrasives for 24 hours following a waxing treatment.

  • No deodorants for 24 hours following an underarm waxing treatment.

  • Women may experience extra sensitivity to waxing up to a week prior to the beginning of their menses.

  • If irritation should occur, we recommend you use an antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin to keep the area continually moist to avoid infection and scabbing.

Laser Hair Removal

  • No excessive exercise that will cause profuse sweating for 24-48 hours post treatment.

  • No hot baths or showers for 24 hours post treatment.

  • Wear sunscreen on treated areas.

IPL/

SKIN REJUVINATION

  • No perfumed lotions, or makeup for 24 hours after treatment.

  • No hot baths, steam rooms or swimming pools for 24 hours after treatment.

  • Use a minimum SPF45 sunblock for protection in treated areas, apply liberally and often.

  • Immediately after the procedure

    • Immediately following the procedure, you may feel as though you have a sunburn on the treatment area, though this feeling will subside within twenty-four hours.

    • Typically, patients experience no side effects within one to two days of the procedure.

    • Though it's unlikely, some scabs or blisters may appear after a photorejuvenation treatment, apply Polysporin Black to the areas and do not pick. You may be advised to avoid hot water and prolonged sun exposure for up to two days following your procedure.

    • Any other instructions your Esthetician provides should be followed for maximum results with minimal side effects.

  • Recovery time frame after IPL / photorejuvenation

    • Though most physical side-effects will subside within forty-eight hours, patients may find that the blemishes on their skin darken for a period of up to two weeks. This is because the skin needs to shed for the results to be visible.

    • Eventually skin blemishes will fade to a lighter appearance than before the treatment.

    • Your esthetician will also provide detailed instructions about the normal symptoms you will experience and any potential signs of complications. It is important to realize that the amount of time it takes for recovery varies greatly among individuals.

  • How long will the results last?

    • The length of your photorejuvenation results will depend largely on the types of blemishes you are treating, as well as how large of an area or how many areas you wish to improve. For basic IPL treatments, most patients will need to undergo two to six procedures spaced four weeks apart.

    • Photorejuvenation can often significantly reduce pigmentation issues such as brown spots, flushing, or spider veins for a long period of time. However, the procedure does not stop the skin from aging, so it's possible that new wrinkles or blemishes will appear over time. For this reason, some patients choose to undergo pulsed light therapy multiple times over a period of several years.

  • Maintain a relationship with your esthetician

    • For safety, as well as the most beautiful and healthy outcome, it's important to return to your service providers office for follow-up evaluation at prescribed times and whenever you notice any changes in your skin. Do not hesitate to contact your service provider when you have any questions or concerns.

MICRONEEDLING

A microneedling treatment is a procedure with certain inherent risks. If you follow your skin care professional’s advice and directions, the risk of complications in this procedure is small. Anything that you do against your skin care professionals advice increases the chances of you having complications. In addition, if you are under physical or mental stress, it is not a good time for a treatment.

Most patients who undergo this kind of a therapy have only a little redness for 12 to 24 hours (up to a few days for more sensitive clients). Occasionally, they may have very slight flaking and small white heads/papules in a few localized areas for 1 to 2 days. Still it is extremely important that you do not pick, scratch, pull or rub your skin during or after. If you do, you may damage the underlying new skin and cause scarring or changes in your pigmentation.

If, despite these warnings, you pick or rub your skin, you may alter the results, increase risk of infection and healing, and your skin care professional may not elect to perform any further treatments.

During the initial 48 hours after the treatment please avoid:

  • Extensive exercise, swimming pools, hot water including saunas, jacuzzis, hot tubs.

  • Waxing hair removal in the treated area.

  • Sunscreen for the first 48 hours. After the initial 48 hours, keep your face protected from the sun for a MINIMUM of 2 weeks.

  • Any other type of exfoliation for 1 week.

Also be sure to clean your cell phone, change your pillow case and keep your hair tied back.

During the initial time of healing (2 – 7 days), you should only use the products recommended by your skin care professional. Do not apply any medications or glycolic acid products during this time or your skin may become irritated. Be sure to use sun screen daily after the first 48 hours.

Please realize these warnings are for your protection and it is your responsibility to follow this advice while caring for your skin at home. The motto in this office is if you are not sure if you should do something or don’t understand the directions, call the office before you do anything!
